A sign at the back of an avid Trump supporter’s truck –
“God is # 1”.
Difficult to reconcile.
How is it that to both, someone can be loyal?
Each seem to represent opposite ends of the spectrum.
Imagine that – a long hard fight for Democrats.
Trying to get a win.
In order to do the People’s bidding.
Focusing on what they want to give
If they win the seats in the Senate.
So they kept their eyes on January 5th.
All the while, Trump’s had been on the 6th.
For four years, with Trump at the lead
He set the example for others to proceed.
His minions shamelessly attacking others, even citing their religion.
Falsely accusing others as having a lack of devotion.
Others pretending to dance with grace,
While keeping shackles to Trump in place.
Some Republicans trying to side with truth
At the same time trying to validate Trump too.
That’s a hard bargain to negotiate.
Standing for the Christian life while propping hell’s gate.
But your mascot can’t be truth.
When your coach relishes in having the forbidden fruit.
Decorum and decency, shouldn’t be your rallying cry,
When your team strives under chaos and confusion.
Charity will not be your mission.
When Chief of Lies is in charge of your Division.
Unity can’t be your cheer
When your strategy is to promote anxiety and fear.
How can it be a fair game?
When the rules constantly change?
When the opposition throws the ball.
Even though it’s their turn to catch.
Moving the goal post to get a score.
Being referees while competing in the match.
You can’t speak for God while working with the devil.
Saying you represent good when your mission has been evil.
Many try to straddle –
One foot with the devil, one foot with divine.
But at some point there will be such a split
They will have to decide.
Which side they should go with.
As there is one Master, the Truth.
A day will come when they will be forced to choose.
And God never said for sinners and sins to remain unchecked.
To sweep under the rug and forget.
And forgiveness doesn’t mean
Turning a blind eye to someone’s evil deeds.
Some who marched in Washington to threaten and destroy.
Carried Jesus’ name in tow.
But it wasn’t his name that they called
As they broke through doors and windows.
Using Jesus only as a crutch.
To justify themselves as doing good.
When obviously it has not been for Jesus that they stood.
Stop saying Jesus’ name in vain.
Stop using him for your ungodly gains.
Trump made himself as the gift to be received.
He has not been here for America’s gain
Or to highlight the good she could achieve.
Instead he made it all about him and his name.
As a leader, he made himself greater than his gives.
You are called to be loyal to stand with him.
And put his name and his aims above everything.
So displaying Trump signs while professing God is # 1 –
Without fail, has to be the most obvious contradiction.
