The truth of the Republican Party has been told.
They’ve been compromised – as they try to keep their power and political hold.
Deciding not to alienate the side
That uses racism and hatred as their guide.
Allowing them to get traction and footing
By continually lying to the Nation.
Hitching to Trump is what the Republicans are about.
Even if it means emboldening
Terrorists, cop-killers, insurrectionists and anti-Semitics.
Continuing the lie that the Biden-Harris team did not win.
Allowing and encouraging violence in our Politics.
Why? Because Trump was never on their team.
He was always there to receive.
He always gives in to greed.
Too much for the dam it seems.
As there was a burst at the seams.
Republicans often demand changes in Bills.
Watering them down.
But still in the end they don’t vote for it.
Just bent on obstruction.
Mitch and other Republicans prove they are no different from Trump.
They just try to do their bad deeds with more eloquence.
Keeping the Party in their rear-view mirror.
They have more political brains and muscles.
They know when to push and when to be subtle.
But in the end they are all the same.
There behaviors lead to death and carnage.
The main difference will be
That Trump would seek to be the lone thread left.
While Mitch and the others would display a Party quilt instead.
Homeland security warn about violence by domestic extremists.
Those who support Trump and are supported by him.
Some Republicans weren’t as horrified
By the President’s call for the insurrection.
But his behavior after – his delay and failure at cessation.
They were upset as there was imminent danger for their lives.
But they are back to Trump’s side as their anger subsides.
Republicans posture to justify what they’ve done.
Who they’ve become.
Giving themselves permission to carry on.
With their attacks against America and Americans
Unless they are stopped
More and more damage will be done.
America and Americans will stay broken
For generations to come.
A cause of division in our Society
Has been because of justice inequality.
So promoting that by not impeaching Trump
Is not a valid or good argument.
There are two impeachment lanes –
Removal from office and prevention from holding office again.
They pursued Clinton’s impeach for abuse of power,
Obstruction of justice and perjury.
Stemming from sexual impropriety.
And for Trump they don’t see the fit.
That his lies and rhetoric
Led to an attack on the Capitol
To stop the process of certifying a fair election.
Leading to damage, death and continued threats.
Ready to move on and forget.
Republicans haven’t found a way
To delegitimize the legal content or intent of impeachment.
So they aim to attack the process itself.
That has been their M.O.
And people continue to legitimize them with their votes.
Maybe it’s time to accept that those Republicans
Attaching themselves to Trump
Is not out of trepidation or fear.
But purposeful loyalty and wanting to be there.
It’s a hard read –
But continuous legitimization of this Republican Party means
That layers of America’s democracy have already been shaven.
And many still choose outlets that show their one-sided view.
So it’s no news that it is lies and conspiracies Americans are craving.
America is where she is today.
Because Republicans and Trump have had their way.
There is no doubt they boosted racists and racism to the top.
Instead of kicking them out.
If you’re thinking that any time soon
Supporting Republicans is the thing to do.
Come 2022 or 2024.
A Republican is who you will be voting for.
Then you did not learn any lesson.
And you don’t understand the need for consequences.
When such behaviors occur and they are not deterred.
That’s an invitation for them to do what they did again.
You will be no better than them.
In fact you will show that you are less.
Because you’ve seen the effects of what they do.
And at least for now, the power to choose still lies with you.
