Not My President

It was he who said –
He’s not my President.
He made his choice clear.
He sticks with and panders to his base
and people like me he wants to disappear.
I may survive for a while
ss I am covered by the Privileged side.
But that side is not guaranteed
and it can easily slide.
If that goes, what will show?
The color of me, will be all that’s left to see.
Politics was meant to be for groups better living together.
Not about a group gaining power to push its own agenda.
Congress was created to oversee the President.
Not turn a blind eye to malcontent.
They were to reflect the People’s voices.
Not to silence their choices.
The Supreme Court should be just and fair.
Even in the manner that the judges are placed there.
But this too has been tainted
As the Republicans and Conservatives manipulate it.
The Republicans stand in the Rose Garden
The White and White-Collar await a Presidential Pardon.
Even though they were mob-like crooks,
many Americans don’t seem to mind if they are off the hook.
It seems that what Republicans stood for no longer matter –
Free trade, balanced budget, morality, Human Rights.
Immigrants and Immigration – That’s what they stand against.
And against who they are very precise.
So they speak badly of Immigrants, of which I am One.
It’s hard to feel welcomed here, when it’s all said and done.
I wonder if those who I thought were my friends
also want me gone!
If they don’t, why would they still vote Republican?
Would the Republicans and the White-House
truly represent me?
Will they stand by my side?
Will they let me breathe?
There is relief knowing that he wouldn’t chose me
as one to stand by his side.
Because if I had to stay true to him
there would be too much of me to deny.
I cannot, will not make that sacrifice.
So don’t accuse me of not being patriotic
if I say – he’s not my President.
He took an oath to serve all of America
and to that, he has not been honest.
A Leader should gain the respect of those he leads.
But he has chosen to be the leader for less than half of the country.
Why isn’t he held to the same standard?
After all he’s the one in charge – He’s the Commander!
Why force a role on someone who rejects it?
Like a Father who prefers to be absent.
Wishing for it to be, when it’s not likely –
Is like waiting for the dead to awaken from the casket.
