America, the Undisciplined

Don’t be afraid of discipline.
Often you have what you need within you to control and bring
you to where you should be.
That thing that you think you are desperate for
That which you believe you so adore
is often not a need, but a want.
And if you wait a few minutes, hours, week, month
that desperate eye may then be gone.
At least for a while, bid it so long.
Impulse need not be an automatic give-in.
That’s when you stop and think – Discipline.
You at least have to try to hold back the impulse
‘cause if you don’t give yourself that start
you won’t have a fighting chance
to pave yourself an alternate path.
Which may at least give you a shot
at what’s bigger and better.
If you hold out now and go for the later.
At times the future may hold what you need
So you should slow the pace for the greater concede.
Often when we are deprived the deprivation breathes desperation.
But that desperation is of and in the mind
In how it’s designed and defined.
But you have the power to change your destination
By re-creating what is in your imagination.
For instance – the virus called for isolation
Then we become desperate for socialization.
But we’re still fortunate to have technologies
that can change our strategies
to keep us connected and safe
until we can meet again face to face.
But we quickly say enough is enough
and break all protocols.
to satisfy our immediate feel.
We even ignore what is real.
The goal is to open the economy
and give us a financial strive.
If it’s done too soon and carelessly
it’s at the cost of people’s lives.
If we stay enclosed,
there’s a better chance to stop the virus’ growth.
But that requires discipline, from each and every citizen.
This plea to stay confined, even as we remain free
would help our fellow men, and is for the sake of our Country.
You call yourself Patriotic,
yet sacrifices, you’re not willing to make.
For personal freedoms – you are crying
while people, including those at the front lines, are dying.
Stand for the Flag – That’s been your demand.
But wearing a mask, not mingling.
To take that needed stance- you’re not willing.
Yet you feel free to stain the name
Of families and men like John McCain.
Men who sacrifice life, love and limb.
You’re being asked to stay home, wear a mask.
and you can’t, won’t do it!
Your leader has moved beyond the pandemic
and you’re stuck in your alternate world – you don’t get it.
He uses his energy to get his friend free,
and his time is being spent, fighting his “enemies”.
While there is so much unrest, suffering and pain.
With no end in sight, how can we sustain such a strain?
Yes, sacrifice requires discipline
which many, including the leader seem to be lacking.
But it goes beyond that, to the fact
that many made a pact
to the Man of the song and the dance.
A Man who doesn’t meet the needs of America’s current circumstance.
He continues to go for his political gain,
To be entertained and to entertain,
It’s sad, but it seems true –
By their words and actions
That is what the leader’s disciples are vying for too.
Don’t be screwed; think it through.
Open your eyes to the truth.
We need to be more serious
Hold out for a longer period.
Now is the time for the sacrifice.
A nationwide call to all citizens –
Step up and be more disciplined.
Wear a mask, keep your distance.
Stay at home, be consistent.
Once we control the spread
We at least give ourselves a chance
For better days ahead.
