It’s curious that Republicans are anti-government.
Why do they become public servants?
Less government, more privatization.
Giving contracts and power to big corporations.
Don’t support rules or regulations.
And when there are limitations –
It’s in relation to voter restrictions.
Not to help the poor and suffering.
Not interested in governing.
With their serving duties minimal or shrunk –
What would be their purpose?
And if Republican voters believe the same.
Why would they need representation?
And when voters’ choice for leaders
Are decided by misinformation and erroneous conclusions.
Their choices lead to danger for the Nation
As they get leaders who seek elevation for nefarious reasons.
In real life, this plays out.
With the Q-Anon Congress Woman –
Majorie Taylor Greene calling herself a hard worker.
And in the same breath she flaunted
All the time she will have on her hands
For which she has plans to recruit more extremist at tax-payers expense.
Does that make sense to you?
In choosing her, to represent you –
Does she say and behave as you would?
Many still seem to give her support.
A new kind of politician that people endorse.
Some openly wearing Hitler coats.
Yet they still are able to garner American votes.
And when Republican lawmakers vote their conscience or do the right thing
Their fate now is censorship.
America has lowered her need
For integrity with political and presidential candidacy.
A word used with much frequency during the Trump years –
Unprecedented – not usually done, unequaled, unparalleled.
Yet many responded to his words, actions and deeds
As if they were normal.
But in more ways than one, he was awful.
The power of the presidency enjoyed by Trump.
The responsibility of the position – not so much.
Taking full advantage of the perks.
Paying minimal attention to the work.
After the 2020 election,
Engaging in fund raising and recreation.
All the while on the taxpayer’s dime.
But obviously not having taxpayers on his mind.
That’s another area of decline –
Even when leaders are lacking in empathy.
Voters don’t respond to show that it’s a necessity.
Emerging situation in the State of Texas.
A decade ago the government received warnings.
But with a combination of climate change deniers
And government regulation minimizers.
Texas did not weatherize their energy systems
Though the extreme temperatures were theorized.
There was no doing as the experts advised.
A decision was made to isolate.
Reject the Federal energy grid.
And amid all of this –
A series of deregulation by a hands-off Republican government.
No soul searching, just continuance.
Lack of interest to protect their most vulnerable.
Conditions to live through are now intolerable.
But Ted Cruz didn’t think twice before fleeing to Cancun.
When caught, he’s singing a different tune.
Many Americans now fend for themselves.
But if allowed to work, government can do, and be preventative.
Yet citizens continue to despise government.
And the leaders they choose continue to oblige them.
Why be surprised if there is nothing to show?
Even when the need for government grows?
When people who oppose government, rule
They don’t see themselves as tools to help the people.
Even to do what is reasonable.
When government intervention is seen as socialist deeds.
It’s not a far stretch that they would oppose
The addressing of communal needs.
Isn’t that to which their voters also agreed?
And the voters never punished when their leaders lied.
So it’s living with the consequences that they are now tied.
People approved these leaders and agreed with how they lead.
Now they reap the growth from their chosen seeds.
