Leadership doesn’t thrive in a vacuum

Republicans in general haven’t been for all.
They target sections of America’s population.
Either as supporters or enemies.
True for leaders and voters.
Leadership does not thrive in a vacuum.
Leaders ably choose what their choosers allow them to.
At least that’s how it’s been in a democracy.
Though it’s not clear that democracy will be an American keep.

Republicans can say and do what they want.
Under the cover of the First Amendment and personal freedoms.
But when it comes to others –
They dissect, twist and criticize.
Paint an alternate reality with lies.
So many Americans stick to their side.
As if in a trance or mesmerized.

Republicans keep springing unfair and unjust traps at Democrats.
Willing their collapse.
And ordinary Republicans continue to go
With their leaders’ immoral and amoral flow.
So much so – Conservatives and Republicans are now unrecognizable.
But let’s not fool ourselves –
As ordinary Republicans give silence to their leadership.
It signals they’re in.
And they confirm it with their voting.
Then you can’t help but conclude.
The leaders are doing as their voters think they should do.

Republican leadership’s focus has been to win.
To hold and keep power, not governing.
How it’s done is not of matter to Republicans.
A continued stream of deception and disinformation.
And it doesn’t stop, even at the top.
Their continuance has led to death and destruction.
They have a distaste for regulations and rules.
It’s seen as telling them what to do.
Couple that with, not beyond acceptance of cruel.
And having sections of the population excluded.
While they bend to big corporations.
This has been the formula they’ve been using.
Then they stand back and stand by –
Seizing any chance at occupy.

Some promote such wrongdoings by reinforcing
The wrongdoers with their votes.
Others forward their propaganda and falsehoods.
Or give them more life with their likes.
Dismiss and demote the opposition with their swipes.
Tapering to the QAnon and White Supremacists types.
Until they become so enveloped.
Changing their minds – there is little hope.
Just with computers and phones,
Ordinary folks become contributors.
And by word of mouth, there are ample distributors.
What kind of messenger are you?
For lies or truth?
It doesn’t matter which side you’re on –
Do you allow truth to prevail, or shut it down?
With your hands and your tongue –
Do you promote right or wrong?
We all have a hand in it.
What is it that you permit?
