We were in fear, facing an infection with no vaccine.
In real-time the scientists had to come out with guidelines.
Whatever they could to save lives.
But many have been stubborn.
Refusing to heed the warnings.
Allowing such a spread to overwhelm the health care system
and leave thousands dead.
Then came a quick delivery of success.
And instead of inject, many choose to reject.
Imagine getting the vaccine in record time.
But not being able to reap full benefits because all was politicized.
For some, their vaccine has been to forget or not believe.
And for their relief, they ingest the GOP’s bogus focus like Stop the Steal.
Under Trump there was a good deed.
The establishment of Operation Warp Speed.
To fast track the development, manufacturing
and distribution of the Covid-19 vaccines.
It became an Achilles heel for Trump when it came to distribution.
Why would he need a cure for what he said wasn’t a problem?
He tried to take credit for it but couldn’t do an all-out sell.
That’s what you get for telling lies, they don’t mix with truth well.
For his manly persona and loathe for weak.
He took the vaccine, privately.
Often his act is with such deception and deceit.
And still, many Americans keep marching to his beat.
There were other Countries that followed protocol.
They took the path of reality and worked to help all.
Taking preventative steps.
Deciding to protect and for the least amount of deaths.
They stayed with the scientists, knowledge and common sense.
Ignoring the conspiracy theories and nonsense.
While America stayed stagnant with infighting and politics.
Life is only sacred as a focus to boost the GOP’s power fix.
Other than that – look at the death traps they’ve been setting.
Some Countries went for strict lock-downs.
Where are they now?
Like New Zealand and Australia enjoying more freedom.
Because of sacrifices they made and what they did to tackle the spread of Covid.
While many Americans are still at the stage of denying.
Many across the world are dying for America’s resources,
capability and yes – the vaccine.
While Americans are refusing, choosing and waiting to see.
When you have the means for sustain.
There is the luxury of choice and wait.
As opposed to desperate when you accept whatever there is.
Which many Americans no longer seem to appreciate.
As they remain in the tribal, identity, polarized, political state.
Understandably some are suspicious of the fast-track vaccines.
But that’s the beauty of America – knowledge and means.
The science of messenger RNA has been around for decades.
And the scientists changed course to meet the immediate need of Covid.
But people choose to not trust in science and data.
Consequences felt now and will continue to later.
Those who refuse to be vaccinated are not safe
and actually contribute to making the world a more dangerous place.
For some Americans, trauma still has a hold.
So they are suspicious of what they are being told.
While for others, it’s all political.
Just doing the opposite of what the other Party says should be done.
Some link the vaccine to deaths because of the time proximity.
Even after the results of the autopsy.
The vaccine is not an all-out cure or prevention.
You can still die from a heart attack or other medical conditions.
It doesn’t mean that the vaccine caused them.
Others are afraid because of the pause with J&J.
But all should be in perspective.
One in 8 million appears to get a clot.
One death in over 7 million shots.
So appalled by the idea of side effects or a few deaths.
But they don’t blink an eye about the medicines they readily ingest.
Not shocked by the many who die by police.
Or those affected by mass shootings in our communities.
Based on the data –
We should be more afraid of the virus than the vaccine.
Yet people are willing to risk the grim of getting Covid-19.
Exposure and spread make the variants grow.
As they mutate, there is no guarantee that the current vaccines will hold.
If we consider the facts and the course of the disease.
The decision to be vaccinated should come with some ease.
Understandably, people want to be out and about.
Ironically, many who give that a shout, are not for vaccines.
Those who demand open and free.
Are the ones resisting what it takes to contain Covid-19.
One and a half years out of a lifetime
may not be that much of a sacrifice as we might think.
Considering, we’ve been in a pandemic.
And the alternatives lead to prolonging our ability to control and contain.
Making it more deadly and devastating.
The death toll in America has been over half a million.
As if the aim was the highest casualty to our civilians.
It would have been less painful and grim,
If people were more cooperative and disciplined.
And the problem is not just the initial viral spread.
But also from all that the variants shed.
The effects of the pandemic is not biased to blue or red.
And it doesn’t just vanish as Trump and his Administration said.
Neither does it discriminate or target.
As long as there is a host, it will latch on to it.
Maybe you’re spared and show no symptoms.
But you still contribute to the spread and can leave others as victims.
America has shown greatness.
Quickly developing the vaccine and getting people vaccinated.
Yet she has fallen short of her true potential.
Because investing in all her citizens is no longer essential.
Science and innovation, once the pride and joy of this nation.
It gave a ride to the moon.
Now rejecting a vaccine believed to be developed too fast, too soon.
A huge accomplishment.
With results better than most of the rest.
But so many Americans have descended to lies and conspiracies.
Actively dismissing the lifelines that stem from fact, data and reality.
Unfortunately the effects don’t just stick to them.
They spread to all of US and to the next generation.
A long haul for these symptoms.
That we all will have to live with.
Crippling our growth.
Diminishing our worth.
America, no longer in the lead and slower to heal.
Because there is no aim collectively, for the majority be free or succeed.
Another disease that America now face.
That could lead to her downfall and disgrace.
