Trump and His Disciples

Trump sits on his throne and he smiles as he looks below.
And in his name his disciples take to the Streets.
He basks in the glow, encourages the show
as he sends his approval in a tweet.

Trump said the economy needs to open
and that the virus would go away.
So his disciples go out and protest.
Demanding their States do as he says.
His Governors caved
as they want his and the people’s praise.
But it was a reckless decision
since there was no parallel emphasis
for safety provisions.
So the crowds came out
and soon there was no doubt
that the infection numbers soared.
When will they accept that the virus doesn’t go away
just because it’s being ignored?
In true Trump fashion
the Governors then look for groups to blame.
But if the leaders weren’t so slack
about the wearing of the masks.
If from the beginning it was emphasized
and not politicized,
These States would be in a better position today.

Trump’s followers give such blind trust.
They think they are like him, but of course he does not!
He’s been with privilege and resources,
while his disciples make the sacrifices.
Would he give assistance should their lives start to crumble?
Give a hand to their existence,
or would he make himself a stronger, bigger bubble?
