We see – and because of our experiences and beliefs, we perceive.
Sometimes the way it shows, is the way life goes.
But at times, reality is warped by our biases, stereotypes and psychological needs.
Leading US to see as we so want to see.
Twisting our mind to believe what we want to believe.
That’s why some are able to live in an alternate reality.
It’s being done on a national scale.
Right-wing binding to a collective tale.
Some reject and dismiss the vaccine given by legitimate and vetted entities.
Not trusting that they come with honesty.
Not believing in the guidelines that are cheap and free.
Told to not trust what Biden or the government says or gives.
Instead, taking unapproved medicines such as Ivermectin.
Not approved for treatment of Covid-19.
Yet people are ingesting it readily.
Just like Trump’s expert recommendation of bleach.
Some willingly giving their money and personal information.
For others to go in and change the status of their vaccination.
A dangerous move in more ways than one.
They try to buck the systems putting pressure as the national situation becomes dire.
Entities are forced to make vaccination a requirement.
To avoid not just the spread of disease and death within their establishments.
But to off-set financial and other burdens which they don’t want to bear.
Especially when the solution is accessible – already there.
Attempting to direct the cost to the ones driving them up.
Why so grim, isn’t that what capitalism teaches?
What’s the opposition?
From their handbook, it should be the expectation.
In the meantime, they are rejecting the well-meaning helping hands.
And are exposing themselves to scams.
The hacker they hire can hijack their information for blackmail or identity fraud.
Isn’t that odd?
Not fearful of the unknown, a stranger.
Not considering the dangers that may lurk.
Not getting worked up, despite no proof that these entities,
behind the scenes, are more trustworthy than the government or the CDC.
Do these thoughts ever enter their mind?
An unlikely find, as defense mechanisms are put into place.
Creating a safe space for moving ahead.
Not having to deal with what they dread.
Self-made band aids of sorts.
Avoiding rational thoughts.
Some think that the vaccines have a tracking device.
Don’t they know that their likes, posts and phones already suffice?
Others believe that the vaccines will mess with their DNA.
But they’ve already initiated that move and change.
How else to explain the lack of empathy and beliefs in what isn’t real?
The chaos, cruelty and inhumane they attract.
And that they believe in a thing called an alternate fact.
At times we put our trust to ones that lead US astray.
And we dismiss those trying to lead US to a safe place.
The data has been clear – Areas that support Trump have more Covid-19 deaths.
That doesn’t happen by chance.
It’s his influence to their circumstance.
They are so enthralled and blinded.
Because of the narrow focus and being closed-minded.
Or sometimes it’s difficult to change direction.
Even in light of new information.
So we decide to stay the course.
Despite the writing that it will be to our loss.
America First is a nice slogan.
It’s hidden meaning, now out in the open.
With globalization and lack of national cohesion, what will America become?
Some seem to admire how strong-men countries are run.
But those are not pro-American.
Likely to use US as a stepping-stone to achieve their goals.
America alone in a dangerous world.
No one to have her back.
More prone to attacks.
Freedom to other Nations – an easy cry.
While to their fellow men they try to reduce Civil and Human Rights.
No man left behind in Afghanistan while they abandon those traumatized during the January 6th turmoil.
Domestic terrorists have protection on American soil.
The right making demands when it’s convenient to their cause.
No consistence to order or laws.
With no barriers, limits and in the end, all is forgiven.
But to the other side, there is always a tight squeeze.
No let-up or ease, only displeased.
America is on a path to self-destruction.
Today, despite easy access to information.
Some sections of her population are misinformed.
Even dumbed down.
Yes, there have been advances in science and technology.
But they haven’t made US more efficient than we used to be.
We’re masters to multitask.
But come days’ end we’re never satisfied with where we are at.
And with climate change, Mother Nature’s devastation has been of our own creation.
Despite witnessing the destruction and cost, we still choose to inhale the exhaust.
Louisiana’s investment in strengthening the levees is a tell.
They held through the wrath of Ida well.
If there were no lessons learned from Katrina 16 years ago.
Ida would have been a lot worse.
There have been so many warnings about America’s Infrastructures deteriorating.
The GOP’s answer is to do nothing.
It’s now that they worry about spending.
While under Trump, the depth of the pocket was never ending.
How much of tax-payers’ money went to furniture, security and perks?
Blurring the lines between personal, campaign and the people’s work.
Continued sabotage and criticisms with all that Biden has done.
Even when he does what they supported under Trump.
Fighting against the Biden Administration for Party gain and emotional satisfaction.
The GOP’s plans of action have been costing US.
Yet it’s to the GOP many still place their trust.
Biden may sometimes fail, but his motives are good and clear.
His desire has been to help.
Yet he is to be ostracized and criticized.
No matter his feat, some will never be pleased.
It has been said – If America is to fall, it will be self-led.
Not from outside influence or enemies we so dread.
But from factions in our society attacking life, freedom and liberties.
Forcing their idea of American.
Not earned by birth or of citizen.
Those who don’t fit the mold or comply, are threatened and terrorized.
Way back when, it would have been discrediting if public service gave only
the messaging of danger from strangers.
Knowing full well that there’s been mal intent from community members,
family and friends.
That message is clear today, yet it’s to their old beliefs that many stay.
Some choose to not heed when there are warnings.
Told a storm is coming.
Then when they face the threat, they complain that no rescuers came to help.
Not doing what they are supposed to.
Yet they expect and demand a re do.
Always looking for what blows from other people’s nose.
While not tending to their own.
When evil, ill-will or wrong-doing are done to others, some act with such indifference.
But should it happen to them or theirs, they are vehement.
We manipulate our world to get for our individual horse.
When the collective cause will yield US more.
And the obstacles we throw for others to bear.
Often becomes part of our share.
The rules we set for others to not get, likely apply to US too.
Because in life, we are not of one role, we belong to different crews.
So as business owners think of what will bring them profit.
And focus mostly for their benefit.
They may disregard the employees and the consumers.
But one day they may be the worker or the user.
Oftentimes the ball that we allow in the game gets thrown back to our court.
When it’s our time to endure, we decry the sport.
So in truth, we screw and scam ourselves.
Getting what we meant to be against someone else.
Which at times we may not even recognize, tend to forget or at some point forgive.
But we don’t want to accept the consequences or the responsibility for what our decisions bring.
With which we then have no choice but to live.
That’s when the blame-game checks in.
And then we’re surprised when we are alone on the road.
Although it was with selfishness that we gathered our load.
Whether it’s for recreation or to work –
Pedestrians and cyclists have rights to share the road.
But drivers show no patience or understanding.
Even though it’s a role they could find themselves in.
Why is one side’s presence seen as more important?
To others their hearts are hardened.
Because they are focused, believing it’s their right of way.
Making it more difficult for their mind-set to change.
For a culture that basks in multi-task.
We do and say as if we wear only one hat.
And we’re not afraid to change it just to ride a wave for our benefit.
Yet we judge others who make claims to the same as parasitic.
We reinforce getting, not from using our brains, skills and tools.
But by changing the rules.
Truth becomes packaged and hidden behind the lies we choose to believe.
So the lies shine forth as our reality.
As we keep looking beyond and scamming ourselves.
We will fail to see what’s really there.
Without introspect, we will not recognize when our bruise
is the result of a self-inflicted wound.
At times we need to change our course or stance.
But we convince ourselves to be stagnant.
We are the brake to the progress of our circumstance.
We are the spoke to our wheel.
Our greed drives US to believe there was a steal.
Until we can face reality, we will continue to be our worst enemy.
