It’s said that African Americans ought to get over slavery.
Accused of using it as a crutch to draw pity.
Take advantage, milk for favors and boosts.
Holding there to have an excuse.
But what the accusers show is that they hold to decades of lies, myths, bias and stereotypes.
Always switching the focus to their gripes.
Circling around what needs to be done for America to move on.
African Americans and People of Color attempt to address what ails and would bring healing through peaceful demonstration and education.
But neither have been accepted by the rest of the Nation.
Instead they are silenced and their situations get worse.
The right and Conservatives accelerate to reverse.
Retaliation and restrictions are placed.
That’s been the reality that many People of Color face.
How many came to America’s shores for better and more?
Yet they vote, made it their life’s work to have others shut out.
They’ve become anti-immigrant.
Others are no longer welcomed.
And some immigrants in US act as if they weren’t given a ride or space when they entered in.
It’s with an air of superiority, righteousness and authority that they now engage in blocking.
They are choosing to their perceived feel and need.
Not willing to hear or see what others plea.
They’ve deemed themselves as priority.
There are appropriate labels and choice names to these ways of thinking.
Even though they fit, many are in denial of it.
It’s great when you can live with comforts and luxury.
Yes you’ve worked hard, and at least getting your basics is easy.
The problem is that for many, luxuries become their necessities.
We experience increased desires for conveniences and amenities.
To the point of them being part of our identity.
Doing without high end and more, becomes a sacrifice many are not willing to make.
So they willingly take from another’s basic to get for themselves.
Experiencing enjoyment and having no regrets.
Secure more without a second thought.
Even after witnessing others’ grief, they feel no obligation to shift the scene.
True for materials and intangibles.
To them the discrepancies and disparities are not visible.
So obvious injustices doesn’t bring mercy to the surface.
They may give lip service.
But they just continue.
Despite awareness that many who think like them are not playing by the rules.
Those are ones they aim to excuse.
It appears that America’s definition of success has been influenced by the elites, big business and the consumerist mind-set.
The accumulation of belongings and personal wealth.
Which people and race are likely to be on that side of that fence?
We also keep elevating, advancing the rich and privileged.
Then set the expectation that we can get to their rise and height.
A tall order that is difficult, if not impossible to realize.
Yet we keep to that grind.
We’re losing sight of peace, health and happiness.
Feeling worthy, accepted, with a sense of belongingness.
Instead we’re defining America by color of skin, the Party you’re in.
Your ideology, religion of participation, to certain sides of personal satisfaction.
If that’s what Americans are striving for.
America is no longer a place for all.
Often there are references to American made and American pride.
But some are trying to re-define and have that stay relevant to one side.
To change who we are and what we stand for.
Not at superficial but that which goes to the core.
There was once a dream for America that many shared.
Which some who are here now demand should only be for them and theirs.
Many immigrants who are not White Anglo-Saxon benefit because of strides made during the Civil Rights Movement.
Yet they side with Whites and White Supremacist who want to reign.
And seem to say that Non-Whites don’t belong in the USA.
That if they are to stay, they are to be treated as sub-citizens, servants or slaves.
Some of these same Americans won’t admit that there is melanin in their skin.
Or that their fair skin won’t guarantee them all the advantages that White brings.
They seem to forget that the benefits were meant for White Anglo Saxon.
For now there may be advantages that give them some traction.
But when you allow Autocrats and Supremacists into your sphere.
The time will come when they move to thin who is allowed air.
And many who enjoy the Autocrats’ and Supremacists’ spoils today.
Will no longer be accepted when they fully control the American way.
When you can afford to not think about the injustices and racism, you’re not affected by it.
It’s not your reality if it can be so easily dismissed.
But that doesn’t mean, it doesn’t exist.
And though many Americans claim to not be racists.
They continue to vote the racists in.
Give them power, platforms and positions to continue doing.
It’s under Republican rule that Supremacists, anti-Semitic and hate crimes rise.
They are deliberate in their actions to divide.
Reducing discrimination and inequality is clearly not to the GOP’s course and trajectory.
If you can with clarity, certainty and honesty say that America’s institutions and systems are free of racial discrimination.
Then you’re living in denial.
And if you can afford that, you’re part of the problem.
Voters have been in the driver’s seat.
They are the ones steering the GOP.
At this point, no matter the throw, a vote for the GOP is allowance for racism to show, even grow.
Trump made that known.
And if you can afford to live at that cost, then it may be best to get real estate where oligarchs are set and sanctioned to live above the rest.
Alas, instead of going to where these types already exist.
They are twisting America to fit that list.
And with the wealth, power and status the GOP and its supporters are given.
They can afford and have the means to do it.
