Ninety shots, sixty hits.
As if no one wanted to quit.
After Jayland Walker was down, bleeding out.
He was handcuffed still.
How could the cops have meant other than to kill?
Contrast with a White mass shooter who leaves the scene of the crime.
He has a better chance of staying alive, if he chooses.
People make excuses.
Somehow the Black man is always the threat.
That’s the cops’ defense.
At least that’s how they “felt”.
A reason to shoot and kill.
Often based on the fear of melanin.
It’s probably why Black men tend to run –
The fear of being alone with cops.
Reportedly, Black men are three times more likely to be killed by cops than are White men.
Incidents also tend to escalate when People of Color are involved.
They are more likely to be stopped in the streets.
Not just by police, but by emboldened and well-armed vigilantes.
There is a higher probability that People of Color will not survive.
Even when stopped for a non-violent crime.
And how is that when they are victims, it’s always to their fault.
That tendency for escalation, with no hesitation to pull the trigger.
Law enforcement and members of society have no intention to figure this out.
Neither the obvious inequalities of the justice wheel which still meet significant societal doubt.
“Defund the Police” – This inaccurately depicts what is meant.
And doesn’t reflect its intent.
But it serves right-wing well.
To deface and defame Democrats and the left.
In truth, it demands accountability for police overreach and brutality.
It highlights reform, to break the dependence on the use of force.
Bring attention to the inequalities of justice that come with enforcement.
It endorses that police can do more to protect and ensure security.
Not become part of the social problem and its criminality.
And not all calls require intimidation, power and might.
Yes, it’s cops’ lives.
But they aren’t safer if they contribute to the problem and escalate.
Building community relationships, trust and better communication can’t be done with blows and guns.
Nor bring peace and security all around.
Just like the NRA, police tend to endorse those candidates who would likely look the other way.
Not call them out for their atrocities.
Let them be to do as they please.
Ironically, they also seem to favor those who would turn their backs on them in a heartbeat.
Already seen.
Those who encourage White Supremacy, terrorists, violence and vigilante types.
It seems cops don’t care and willingly compromise.
Political support and endorsement to limited government influence and oversight.
Instead of finding what works for communities to improve on relationships and safety.
They vote for power and immunity.
When in truth, Democrats have voted on bills to fund the police more than the GOP.
Some like Officer Sicknick who are Republicans, giving their trust and vote to the Party and Trump.
When the compassion and concerns shown, have been from the Democrats.
Law enforcement take part in altering those facts.
Even some police and veterans no longer focus on community.
Their loyalty is with the Party, certain points of view and of course, you know who.
There is so much evidence, that after they leave the Force, many join the White Nationalists’ cause.
And with those groups, the abuse continues.
Yet communities are expected to trust police.
Although law enforcement is so politicized.
They themselves are choosing sides.
Joining the divide that promotes those who find fault or criticize as rivals.
In the cops’ minds, these are antagonists who threaten their professional survival.
Those same police are shouldered with the responsibility to oversee who they perceive to be their enemy.
As a result, it’s possible that Black men quickly calculate.
It’s better or safer to run – Try to escape.
Than to voluntarily enter law enforcement’s den.
Experience the torture and injustice from them and the unjust Justice System.
Since not all who are killed, run or resist.
Surrendering peacefully doesn’t guarantee that they will live.
Nothing and everything to lose at the same time.
Because in many American minds – Black equals crime.
How can they justify 90 shots, 60 hits?
And handcuff still?
Was he really that much of a threat?
Or was it their way to disrespect to his last breaths?
Conscious or subconscious, the unjust, unfair and racists have a strong hold.
Are being allowed to grow.
When you are to protect and serve, people you loathe.
Those you hold to the lowest esteem.
Ninety shots and sixty hits may not seem that extreme.
