DeSantis has shown, when he wants, he can play nice.
Now it seems that President Biden will suffice.
He says he’s willing to work with “whoever”.
Leaning on the “socialist” and “communist” levers.
Is it really to help Floridians affected by Ian’s devastation?
Or to boost his reputation?
Knowing that if he refuses the Federal Aid which he denounced in the past.
His political career won’t last.
Just like the voters who also despise socialists.
Willing to dance with the devil if he comes bearing their kind of gift.
Why is now a good time for DeSantis to shake hands and grin?
Did President Biden change so that DeSantis could now work with him?
Does Florida no longer want to be a breakaway State?
Is President Biden not a part of the “radical left”, the enemy to hate?
Are these handouts no longer part of the Socialist schemes?
What about “Don’t Tread on Me” – DeSantis’ stance against the Federal government’s tyranny?
Needing to distance his State from such overreach.
What about the desire to secede?
Can any State truly function independently?
And will the aid to Florida not increase the national debt?
As DeSantis once said – such is a show of fiscal irresponsibility.
Did he change that belief or has he grown a heart?
Or has his political ambitions forced him to this other path?
The dis-ingenuity is so transparent.
His actions so abhorrent.
Not an honorable mold, no backbone.
All for political crown and throne.
What a job – Being a Republican Governor.
Bullhorn the problems.
And when there is devastation, do a quick sanitization of the socialists.
Bring Federal in and take credit for the good that gets done.
Use to win in future elections.
DeSantis is playing nice because he has something to gain.
Which shows that his actions of demise, division and hatred are deliberate and calculated.
It’s a choice to be cruel.
A strategy to ruin.
And Republican voters are on board.
Despite the tragedies, they strike the chord.
Floridians are naive to think, they are alright because they didn’t sustain Ian’s direct hit.
The effects of such devastation don’t stay contained.
Many are displaced.
Jobs and services are lost, even erased.
Some will be forced to migrate.
Will they be rejected because they’re a drain on the State?
Just as the war in Ukraine has a ripple effect to US and the rest of the world.
Ian’s devastation would likely do the same throughout the State and the Nation.
It will take years to recover and rebuild.
How long will it take for Floridians’ concerns to chill?
And how long will DeSantis decide to play nice?
How soon will he return to attack mode?
“Woke” was his recent priority.
Addressed with such urgency, now to a quick retreat.
It was at the top of his list.
How can it be so easily dismissed?
Doesn’t he know how to multi-task?
That would be expected if his title said Democrat.
What he once couldn’t tolerate.
Denied New York and New Jersey after Sandy’s rage is what he now embraces for his State.
A load of insincerity, without empathy, shame or apology.
Because GOP leaders are permitted to crash and burn.
Once it’s not “their” voters who are getting hurt.
Right wing’s moral center waxes and wanes.
They keep awarding themselves blank slates.
And those from right-wing who buy in – Hypocrisy or stupidity?
For some, both of them float.
But those who deny or say different are already morally impaired.
Willfully blind to truths that are clear.
Traits that right-wing leaders and their supporters share.
Do Republican voters truly believe that the gifts and protections they now receive, are guaranteed?
That the good graces will always be reciprocated?
In the face of so much evidence that the opposite is true.
You never know what the GOP’s hearts and minds would lead them to do.
If Republicans gain full control of the helm.
What will be their incentive then?
With such power they won’t be as motivated to please.
As hypocrisy, stupidity and make-believe float free.
For sure even more bellies will burn.
But by then, men like DeSantis won’t need to show any concern.
It’s also for sure, there are more disasters to come.
Many home grown and of our creation.
Some direct from Republicans doing wrong, yet able to run impervious and disingenuous.
Instead of using the power, energy and resources to deter disaster.
It’s a civil war that many are after.
There are Americans who believe they are immune from the burn.
But someday, someway, it could be their turn.
Who will be there to rescue?
Without opposition, the powerful may decide – they don’t have to.
