Children are like sponges. They are inconspicuously absorbing. There is a lot for them to see, due to advanced technologies and the lifestyle change from Covid-19. As America goes through a transformation – What are children seeing and learning?
Pursuits for destruction and destroy, Not rebuild, restructure or restore. Quick fixes and instant gratification. Rejection of slow growth and suspended satisfaction for greater accomplishments. Rights for guns, despite mass shootings. Arm the teachers to protect the students. In politics, bring your opponents down. Not highlight your skills, tell what you’ve done and what you would have turn around. Support for incarceration, downplay early intervention. Vote for military spending, not for Social Services nor humanitarian. Culture wars, not policies. Emphasis on same as me, not We. Mainstreaming conspiracy theories and alternative facts. Staying silent when the media and whistle blowers are attacked. Siding with corruption, dismissing the Constitution. Stirring fears, fights, chaos and for a revolution. Not for uniting, for common ground nor for peaceful solutions. Certainly not leadership that would take a political risk to go for an unpopular but true fix. Waste and consume. Litter and pollute. Fires burning, glaciers melting, Sea levels rising, extreme weather raging – While ignoring the scientists and accepting Government roll back on rules placed to protect the environment.
Not kind, considerate, with empathy. But disrespectful, self-centered, inequity. A National tragedy fails to bring us together. Instead it’s used to promote political agendas. While deaths of thousands are met with indifference.
This is America’s new blue-print for living. The lessons our children are given. It’s what is being observed. The information to which they are exposed. We’re setting the stage for our descendants and the next generations. From what we have today it seems strife and unhappiness are inevitable. We are influencing what there is to come. The type of world for their living starts here and now. So if you’re pleased with what you see – Stay the course. If you’re blown by what you know. Reset the sail and endorse A more positive, productive and humane force.
