When You Decide

Living by the “Love One Another” rule,
Is a daunting task for anyone to do!
Love someone who doesn’t love you!
Accept the one who is different from you!
How do you aim to get there?
You must be Just and Fair!

What you can accept for or from people you like,
should not be a reject for another
because they’re on the other side.
If you can accept all of this from Trump –
You should be able to do the same
If it were Obama or Clinton.

This hasn’t been the case from what we see.
Trump can do whatever, as much as he pleases.
Should such behavior come from another soul
For many, it will not be acceptable.

This does not mean that for all situations
there would be one response.
You need to consider context and circumstance.
But the point is, when you decide, or try to make up your mind –
The decision should NOT solely or mostly be based
on if you like, or if you hate.
Outcome, effect, consequence.
And don’t forget common sense.
Consider sources of information, influence,
Then, stay true to your conscience.

We cannot separate who we are from our decisions.
They reflect aspects of ourselves and our thinking.
At times we may err.
And with that recognition, we are obligated for a repair –
Either with an apology or a correction aimed at fair.
And if we consistently resist the truth
That tells about our character too.
So when you decide – be careful not to hide
from yourself or from the Truth.
At the same time, be sure that what you include
is not only there to justify what you want to conclude.
Your “go-to”, need not be an up-arm solution.
There is always room for kind and compassion.
Keep in mind that you can’t survive alone.
You are just a part of the Universe.
