Don’t do what you cried foul about.
Now that you’re in the limelight – leave no doubt.
Don’t be a hypocrite.
Or let your stance be one-sided.
For instance,
It’s understandable – the feeling to celebrate.
For you, the Biden-Harris win is great.
A weight has been lifted.
But the responsibility hasn’t shifted.
We all have a duty to do what we can to stop the spread of the virus.
So as you jump in the streets, you wear a mask.
But that’s not the only part of the protocol.
There is also a call for social distancing.
And that rule – many weren’t following.
That type of congregating can’t be prolonged.
When you’re in a place that gets crowded – withdraw.
With Covid-19 cases on the rise.
As more people are hospitalized.
We all need to exercise restraint and discipline.
No matter the Right or Left side.
Or the political party you’re in.
We called for the same when the onus was on others.
It will be a shame if we engage in the same behaviors
That previously made us hot and bothered.
Help and show respect to the frontline workers.
Our health care systems are on the brink of being broken.
We criticized when the Right did wrong.
We can’t ignore what we’ve said all along.
We don’t want to become like the Republicans.
Unjust, unfair and hypocritical.
So as we move forward.
We should stay aligned with the values we stand for.
We need to follow our own lead.
Through our action, words and deeds.
It’s easy to hold others accountable.
Our true colors show when we’re held responsible.
