Why Biden Will Be My President

Trump had no desire to reach across the aisle.
For whatever reason he deemed it wasn’t worthwhile.
He reciprocates only to those who give him support and votes.

Yes, after he won.
There were people in the streets marching against Trump.
But they weren’t there to contest the integrity of the election.
They were there to protest his unethical and amoral ways.
And that was an opportunity for him to reach out and engage.
But instead he was vile and dug in for divide.
Still, there were calls to give him a chance.
His predecessors and opponent were gracious.
Welcoming him and wishing him success.
Respectful, following a peaceful transition protocol.
But that didn’t make him pause.
He went full speed ahead for his ego and personal cause.

Now he and his supporters shout that he should keep his power.
Making unsubstantiated claims, that the election was rigged.
Not caring about the effect on the democratic process.
Or that his standoff for a smooth transition is dangerous.
His supporters and Republican colleagues should be appalled.
But instead, they are egging him on.
That’s the difference between Trump and Biden.
Biden’s service and loyalty is to the Constitution.
And it’s not about him, it’s for the Citizens.

So if Citizens say – Biden is not their President.
The rejection didn’t come from him.
It’s the Citizens that made that decision.
The ball is in their court.
The same is true for other branches of Government.
Biden has made it clear – he is willing to work with them.

That’s why Biden will be my President.
Not because he’s a Democrat.
Or because I may align with his political format.
But because he said he would be – If he won the Presidency.
And he didn’t ask for loyalty.
He asked for cooperation and unity.
No need to abandon values and standards
To follow him as Chief and Commander.
With Trump that was not an option.
From the start he was for
Personal gain, division and rejection.
Lies, chaos, fiction and friction.
And for his closing act –
He’s doing just what he did at the start.
