There are so many threats to America from within.
Not from foreign or radical Muslims.
Nor the immigrants – illegal or recent.
That are America’s biggest threat.
Neither are those coming from Mexico.
Or Blacks attacking moms in the suburbs.
It’s not the socialist Democrats who want to increase tax.
And restrict personal freedoms.
Persecute you for your religion.
These have been Trump’s dog whistles.
Getting people to listen.
Sad part is that it works.
Garnering 70 million votes the second time around.
But not enough to ward off Biden.
Who secured a large enough gap to prevent an overthrow mishap.
Trump’s attempt looked and smelled like a coup.
Another sad truth, Republicans and Voters went along with that too.
There doesn’t seem to be an end to Trump’s shooting.
And his minions are still there doing the looting.
Yet the Right successfully paints the Left as corrupt and violent.
When it’s their side threatening, even to the innocent.
While Trump and the Republican Party remain silent.
As Trump and his team make absurd attempts to repaint all the ballots red.
Joe diGenova, one of Trump’s lawyers said –
Chris Krebs ought to be “taken out at dawn and shot”.
Legalese underlying a sinister plot?
He later labeled his comments as sarcastic, made in jest.
We’ve become a people who laugh at death threats?
Then Gabriel Sterling came out with his “this has to stop” plea.
Where was he when the likes of Governor Whitmer were under siege?
It’s easy to say that his words are better late than never.
But when it comes to safety measures,
It shouldn’t be a partisan endeavor.
In America, democracy is under attack by a sitting President and his self-serving staff.
Lamar Alexander, a Republican Senator retiring.
For that Mitch McConnell was crying.
Not for the 270,000 plus dead Nationwide.
Or for the 100,000 plus being hospitalized.
Neither the near 3,000 Americans dying of Covid every day.
That’s 9-11 happening again and again.
While the focus for Trump and the Republicans
Has been for their political stay.
Keeping their power trumps helping those with unemployment.
Ignoring the long lines for food,
Having no incentive to do good.
Not willing to consider a package or bill.
To bring aid to the many who are struggling.
Showing no empathy to grant relief
To millions of Americans experiencing grief.
This is what 70 million Americans voted for.
What many Americans still support.
And those are the types, these Americans deem as fit to lead.
When will they throw in the towel and dump the bad seeds?
When will they get a grip?
Recognize that their greatest threats are from within?
The elements were present.
And Trump acted as an accelerant.
America’s harm comes from Americans’ brewing.
Keeping an atmosphere with the ingredients so many continue stewing.
Despite all the negative that’s happening,
Trump has convinced them that they’re winning.
When your life’s goals are based on questioning your worth.
Not on who you are or what you stand for.
You will be forever looking.
But when you’re not sure what you’re looking for.
How would you know when you’ve scored?
You’re prone to slip into a bottomless pit.
Fighting yourself from within.
That’s the gift Trump gave to America.
As he made US believe in his MAGA slogan.
But greatness doesn’t come from how much you collect
Or from what you get.
It’s your character and the values you project.
That’s what Lady Liberty represents.
Her torch, the light that reflected her greatness.
Established through her values and her systems.
Allowing for that light to go out.
Her people will forever be hurting.
And as long as her greatness remains in doubt.
