Racism to more Racism

A long time ago, some White Men left their shores
in search of more and better.
They came upon this Land.
And decided on a plan
to make it one of their Treasures.
Then they realized that the Land was occupied
But that didn’t change their Goals.
They continued to explore
And stayed on the course
To make this Land their own.
The takeover was brutal
Many of the Indigenous were killed.
But for the White Men it was victory
He continued his quest to build.
The White Men bought Africans
They were brought to this land as Slaves.
It took some time for the Slaves to realize
The Freedom that they craved.
But the suppression and oppression continued.
They were denied their Civil Rights.
For that, more blood was shed
As they continued the Fight.
The White Man wanted to keep his Power
He tried to hold on tight
But he knew he needed to placate
And show that he was upright.
So he found a more subtle way for his power to stay-
Through Systems and Policies
That would not only promote his Own
But was also meant to suppress
And keep the Non-Whites low.

So for quite some time White equaled Privilege
They were one and the same.
But here and there Blacks started to rise
To higher positions and fame.
So even though it showed that Blacks could grow
And they have what it takes to succeed
And though they was able to rise
Despite economic and systemic ties
They still weren’t allowed to exceed.
Although for some, Economic Privilege was gained
Social inequality and systemic injustice prevailed.
With Whites, their Powers remained.
Over the years, as Life would have it
The World kept changing and evolving.
The White Man felt his Power was being watered down
He perceived that it was eroding –
From Majority to Minority.
His Privilege was being threatened.
He faced financial anxiety
And he questioned,
To what is my life being destined?
So the Whites got a taste
Of the anxiety and disgrace
That People of Color experienced
For many a days.
When they had a chance to empathize
They chose instead to exercise
A Vote that represented
A restoration of their Power,
The Power for which they lamented.
The Vote went to a Man who understood
How to capture America’s attention.
Speak to their anger, speak to their fears
Exacerbate their emotions, increase their tensions.
He created a plan to target Mexicans.
They became his scapegoat to blame and demote.
But he didn’t stop there, he made it clear
It’s “Immigrants” you need to fear.
So how does this Land full of Immigrants
Come to embrace such a Plot?
Well, it doesn’t take a lot.
Since they were already primed
For a great divide
Which was fueled with his flood of lies.
You see some fled their Governments
So of that, they want no more,
And they know to advance in this Land
You cannot side with the Poor.
For Power and Privilege they see
That Whites still hold the Key.
So they adopted a mind-set, and belief in policies
That aligned them with the White Man’s Party.
But they don’t realize that the divide
Has been internalized.
It’s trickled down to their daily lives
And stunted their ability to empathize.
For their survival and for what they strive
They separate themselves from “The Others”
Who would have, in another place or time
Be considered as their “Brothers”.
And when the Man speaks about building a Wall
These Immigrants don’t feel that he means them at all.
Even though he made it clear – It’s immigrants from Norway
Who are most dear and who he would have come to stay.
So as this divide continues to brew
It builds a new Crew
Over which the White Man can exert his Power.
Make no mistake, for those who partake
They now walk hand in hand with the Oppressor.
But it will be a sad day, when they realize the truth
That the Wall they helped build, was meant to exclude them too.
