When it comes to accountability for their own,
Republicans focus on why no action should be taken.
But for the opposition, history shows.
They’ve gone beyond, to unreasonable.
Pushing to the fullest extent.
No restraint, openly showing their mal intent.
For Trump, Republicans are rejecting impeach.
Concerned that it may increase the anger and the heat.
Now they want to focus on uniting, healing, moving the country forward.
Yet they are the ones who retreated like cowards
And showed no concern when they left Trump unhinged.
And they themselves never stopped to think
Of what would transpire.
When they are involved, the situation is never dire.
And let’s not kid ourselves.
If the tables were turned,
Republicans would have no other concerns.
They would pursue with force.
On a condemnation and they-must-pay course.
For his hand in the incident, Ted Cruz does not take responsibility.
He claims he was just doing his duty.
Still failing to admit that he perpetuated lies.
That he and others sided with deny.
And allowed Trump to continue his bogus battle cry.
Nancy Mace, a Congress woman from South Carolina.
After the attempted coup, admitted to Trump supporters
That they were lied to.
That there was no path to undo the outcome of the election.
Even though Trump and some Republicans indicated that direction.
Yet in her on air interview, she blamed both sides of the political aisle.
When the lies and the dangerous rhetoric come from her Party.
And from the man she supported whole heartedly.
Again disconnected from, and twisting the truth.
No acceptance of her culpability in the situation too.
Lindsey now washing his hands.
When all along he held Trump’s hand as Trump stirred the pot.
He stood with many giving new meaning to “Stand by your Man”.
Now trying to pretend he did not.
Others continue to blatantly lie,
And how high will their hypocrisy fly?
Watching Trump allies and Republicans dance around the issues.
And the commentaries on Fox News.
Even as they denounce the Capitol incident.
They use fallacies and make false statements.
Dissing the Left and the President Elect.
Alas, it’s more of the same.
As much as they can – the Left gets blamed.
And held responsible for change.
When it’s the Right that controls the sails.
Stating Antifa is behind the violence and the attempted coup.
Still spotlighting conspiracy theories and siding with untrue.
Another truth that Republicans have been sitting on –
The danger of Trump.
They express concern and call him names behind closed doors.
Never coming forward.
Never a concerted attempt by them to muzzle his mouth.
They stood with him, tall and proud.
There is more blood on Trump’s hands now.
Hawley, Cruz and many Republicans too.
All the enablers – in Trump’s crew, the voters and donors.
Standing by, not doing what they needed to.
People who were in the role of arsonist
Or at least added fuel to the flames.
Now acting as fire fighters heroes.
But it’s just words and a change of their name.
No strong action to back their “this-has-to-stop” claims.
So much talk – that no one is above the law.
And that there should be consequences.
Yet, Republicans who have the power to do
Are not pulling the lever through
To have the necessary political, legal or ethical train move.
Even with the physical assault on our democracy.
The terror of what was seen.
They still talk of an election steal.
Promoting lies they want people to believe.
If you’re still ingesting the likes of Fox News.
Following or forwarding what has been debunked and proven untrue.
You have no intention to change any of your words, actions or deeds.
Neither to stop your misinformation feed.
Then the stench of hypocrisy will also be on you.
You will continue to contribute.
And blood will be stuck to your hands too.
