Quick Thoughts – A Political Human

Those who side with Trump and his Republicans show no concern for the divisions, divisiveness and lies.
The question is – Are there Americans who still believe in unity, integrity and truth?
This ought to be asked of “religious” Americans too.
Who now seem to be tied to the realm of MAGA politics, the heart of capitalists and the soul of opportunists.

Hating people who are gay, won’t get them to say they are not.
Taking their Rights away, doesn’t change who they are apt to love.

If seeking the truth is never your intent, you will always be drawn to its replacement.

It takes faith to have courage, and courage to show faith.

At a church, Elon Musk thought it appropriate to repeat his “joke”.
About no one trying to kill Vice President Harris.
Claiming … “it doesn’t matter”.
Sickly, he drew laughter.
Regardless of how low Trump and his loyalists go, people willingly follow.
Even those of God.
From all walks of life, somehow Trump and his team succeed to bring out the worst of humanity.
But their “enemies” are harshly judged.
No matter what he says or does, his ratings don’t budge.
A sad commentary of US.

Pro-life has decided to stand still with the message that abortion kills.
To others, it’s the taking away of choice and free-will.
Which has been a teaching of the Church, but somehow doesn’t apply in this case.
So we’re faced with many who won’t admit that it’s a procedure which at times can save lives and secure a woman’s ability to have another child.
All of this, is not just willful ignorance.
It’s barbarous!

It’s amazing to see how easily Republicans abandoned their conservative values and ideals to stand beside Trump.
Yet even though some seemingly had enough, they can’t get themselves to vote outside of their Party.
Even to preserve the Constitution and save democracy.
How is that?
They are willing to chance the presidency to an insurrectionist, fascist, autocrat than check the box for a Democrat.

So while Church leaders and others criticize Democrats and the left for cutting branches and picking fruit, Republicans and the right are poisoning the tree and damaging its roots.

Americans choose to keep the ease at which someone can get an AR-15 and shoot.
While refusing to place restrictions and laws that would protect America’s children and youth.

Trump, Vance and other Republicans have been using religion to get support and votes.
Sadly, even though they are disingenuous and have shown evil intent – it’s worked!

It’s hard to believe that so many in American society are as ignorant, vulgar or shallow as Trump.
They remain stumped or they can’t give him up.

Those who claim – “guns don’t kill” are well aware that there are too many people who purchase or have access to guns, that will.

It’s not that Trump and his Republicans could destroy America.
Destroying America IS on their agenda.

Don’t forget – The same rule Republicans introduced to deny President Obama a Supreme Court Justice, is the one they dismissed to give Trump an additional pick.

Day after day we continue to reveal who we are.
Each choice we make speaks to our character.
At times we’re too close or we choose to not see.
But often to others, we’ve already been revealed.
The question is – Would we like the person we’ve become, when the façade breaks down or clarity finally comes?

It’s no longer a wonder how men like Hitler, Putin and Castro rose.
When people who know better choose worse.
To their greed and selfish gains.

And as long as they don’t perceive that they are the target of the regime’s abuse, it is men like Trump and movements like MAGA they turn to.
For a while, any and everything goes.
And until they realize an unwanted turn to them and theirs, men like Trump and MAGA will own their eyes and ears.

Trump often claims he doesn’t or didn’t know.
Not a look you would want for the (wannabe) leader of the Free World.
Frequent ignorance – not a good show.
Feigning it, in light of contrary evidence – even worse.

When they go low – we’ve got to dig deep.
We can’t afford to give in to fatigue that comes because of their beating down.
Their infusion of chaos, confusion and disinformation is exhaustive.
Petty, belittling, instilling fear, terror and anxiety.
The threat of losing freedom ought to give US (not them), energy.
There is no time or space for indifference or complacency.
Others fought long, hard and strong.
Sacrificed, even died.
It’s on US to try, keep in the fight.
As Kamala Harris said – we hold the baton of freedom.
How can we give up on passing it on?

Comparing President Biden and Trump, many say both sides are the same.
And when President Biden was still in the race, they claimed – either way America is screwed.
Not true, if democracy is valued.

Veterans for Trump – he didn’t serve.
You’re permitting him to disrespect and disparage your own.
Believing he knows better than the Generals.
And he won’t hesitate to use “his” army to manage civilians.
Veterans, you went abroad in the name of freedom and democracy.
Yet you’re voting for their fall in your own country.
Despite knowing the horrors of war, you’re loyal to the Party calling for. Those brewing chaos, violence, storming the Capitol, endangering law enforcement – are now the patriots.
And those leading them can be bought.
That’s the America you grow if it’s Trump and his Republicans you choose to serve.

But what those men represent, they don’t delete.
And there are many others in the Party with significant power and lead planting and sowing similar seeds.
So this lame attempt at a descent reflects hypocrisy and speaks to tolerance of baloney.
Because you can’t denounce discrimination and supremacy.
Without withdrawing from this Republican Party.

Many are not concerned about honorable, equitable, fair or just.
Now, they live by them or us.

Do women recognize that they are a “minority”?
Men give themselves the upper-hand and deny women equality.

Why – because he’s a man and only a man can?
Women have as much to lose as do Indigenous, Asian, Jews, Hispanic and Black.
All are under attack.
Yet they engage, agreeing for Rights and opportunities to be taken away.
There will be a price that women and their daughters will pay.
As the message is sent.
Women are less than men.
They don’t deserve a place at the table.
They ought to stay in the shadows.
As Lauren Boebert said “Women are the lesser vessel, and we need masculinity in our lives”.
And men like Trump will gladly oblige.
So that is the lesson our daughters will learn.
You are too weak to independently grow and earn.
Without a man, you cannot stand.
Women ought to submit to the man’s command.

We all endure challenges and struggles.
Problem is, many now confine themselves to bubbles.
While making judgement and assumptions.

Solidify their minds.

So much discrimination.

No one to decry or denounce.

Many on the right, think alike.
As Trump – Allow possession of weapons and guns, once I’m not in the line of the firing squad.
As long as the terror and threats stay to the other side of the wall.
Many Americans aren’t bothered at all.
At least that’s how it’s reflected by the choice to not change.
Despite the continued deaths and massacre, they keep their Republican leaders in the range.
After Uvalde, the Republican response was open carry.
The GOP has sponsored a bill to remove the need for gun permits.
While parents are given DNA kits.
That’s the solution to guns blowing their kids to bits.
Owning guns is such a priority.
They minimize the need for life, safety and security.
Humanity has strayed so far from humane.
A waste of heart, soul and brain.

Voters on the right still stand with their leadership who denounced mask and vaccine mandates during the pandemic.

Individual freedom without sacrifice, discipline or responsibility.
Not true democracy where every vote counts.
And candidates accept fair election outcomes.
They demand “free” as they chain themselves to lies and conspiracies.
Treat truth and fact as inconvenient and a threat.
And those who dare to tell are held for destruction and death.

Many Conservatives and Republicans didn’t have to morph much or stretch far to meet the current GOP where they are.
Enough to hold and embrace.

But those leaders who are emboldened are now stripping themselves of the lies they once held to as a disguise.
Leading to reveal the underlying steel.
Will Americans still see fit to seal their deal?

For many Americans, it’s about the money.
Perceived economic security.
That’s to their gripe and spite.
So they vote for power and control.

Liz Cheney sided with that truth and she is being hailed a hero.
Maybe even to be honored.

But giving her position, she’s just doing her job.
Nowadays though, no matter what, standing with integrity and respecting the law, by Republican standards that’s going above and beyond.

Those who claim they don’t see color or race are a menace to American society. Because they will also fail to recognize how these entities relate to hate, injustice, inequality and discrimination. Many Americans are looking at life through lenses of lies.
As they decide for themselves, their fellowmen and next generations.
You would think that Christians and other religious know better than to choose such lenses for their use.
But that’s where they align.
Then they try to step aside and distance themselves from what’s known and been shown to be the core.
What the GOP and Conservative leads stand and have stood for.
Straddling the lines – Seems they think that’s what God would do.
And that God would use the lens of lies too.

Conspiracies and alternative facts – There is no winning arguments or reasoning with that.
So how can they be met half-way?

To make amends, their values and connections with truth, will have to break too.

At times our wells are at risk of running dry.
But as long as we get by and water flows from the spout, we don’t think to prepare for when there is a drought.

Black is not a person or a race to hate.
It’s a concept that was man-made.
Developed to use against.
Now its connotation is taken as sacred.
How many in US participate?!

Repressing truth can serve us like a curse.
Making our situation worse.
We are prone to repeat mistakes.
We may be led to decisions we may not otherwise make.

When we decide it’s not worth it to live with truth any more.

Projection allows us to shift blame.
We can make accusations that others are doing the same ill behaviors that we do or will engage in.
But purport to have a disdain for.
In reality we’re the evil force.
What we are calling out is to our course.

Denial helps us to escape, cover mistakes.
Make real from fake.
Unfortunately, the relief that we feel is often temporary.

How can it be a show of faith? When lies are used to set the foundation and cement the base?

Ironically, you’ve already been fooled by the time you decide to evade truth, mount a guise and stack it with your own lies.

The many who protested against kids wearing masks.
Do they now accept the fact that some kids didn’t really have a choice?
There was no vaccine and they depended on the parental voice.
Some are now being hit twice, even hospitalized.
With the flu and Covid.
They have to live with the consequences of parental politics.

At times we can wish, will or try to guilt people to change.
But it’s not for us to do their re-arrange.
In the end it’s up to them.
It’s their life, their decision, their conscience.
At times we may have honorable goals.
But we must know when there are diminishing returns.
And it’s best to let go.
Let ourselves off the hook.
Letting go does not always mean abandoning.
That’s what enablers often think.
Know and accept when it’s no longer your responsibility.
When it’s to the action of others and their liability.

We were warned – Covid would reach the vulnerable and our children.
Yet parents protest against masks and vaccines.
How can they defend when they fail to protect?

But we think it should be a no-go.
It’s seen as problematic and our reaction is to resist it.
Often it’s more difficult through the anticipation.
Because when it comes, we just move on.
In the aftermath, we may even encounter a better fit.
And the change in fact can turn out to be as a gift.

If people from before didn’t act brave, selfless and for the collective need – we wouldn’t know a world practically measles and polio free.
With Covid-19, we’re not giving ourselves a chance.
And we’re handing Covid and its perils to our next generations.

Some people are for dysfunction because it’s what they know.
Sadly, it’s comfort to their zone or a feeling of home.
They love to add to the chaos and enjoy a stirred pot.
It’s not to seek peace or relief.
They delight in giving grief.
They don’t care to be in the know.
And they are in when it’s for show.

When you make decisions based on untruths and use nefarious reasons to be your guide.
You may overlook what you truly will lose.
And miss the good already at your side.

We can only do our best in the now and better in the know. But to achieve both, we need to have honesty in our growth.

No matter what life gives, never give up on people, goodness or love.
By putting up blocks, you’ll deny great possibilities the chance to develop.
Use hurt – to your advantage, for your development and to your growth.
In ways that will add to your life and not diminish your worth.

Life is like a bed of roses – Full of flowers and thorns.
You can choose to see its beauty or keep focus to the thorns until it bogs you down.

You can’t control the world.
But often there are bits and pieces of your world that you can control.
Take the time to decipher and know.
