I have been a Licensed Psychologist since 1998.  I have always taken an interest in how people come to their decisions, form their opinions and why they behave the way they do. I try to look at the whole picture, see all sides to understand the dynamics and be tuned in to what’s just and fair for the solutions. That, I try to live by. At times, I may fail – but it’s been my aim.

I have been watching the happenings over the past 4-5 years. At times, when I experience emotional turmoil, I write. After the Ahmaud Aubrey incident in February, I tried to write, but what seemed clear in my mind, became muddled when I attempted to get it on paper. Then the Amy Cooper and George Floyd incidents came to be. After listening to Trevor Noah’s June 1st commentary on George Floyd, Minneapolis Protests, Ahmud Arbery & Amy Cooper| The Daily Social Distancing Show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4amCfVbA_c and reading an article by Bryan Massingale – “The assumptions of white privilege and what we can do about it” – June 1st 2020, National Catholic Reporter – http://www.ncronline.org – the flood gates opened. The first piece was – A Nation’s Woe.

I started to share the pieces with a few friends and thought it would be easier to place them all in one place so they can be easily accessed at their leisure.

Full disclosure – I am a registered Democrat, but I am not stuck to ideology. I look at outcomes and effects on people’s lives. I vote based on that. The writing is simple and straight forward. I verify information as much as I can. I aim at accuracy and truth.

My hope is that people can read with a respectful attitude and an open mind. This is an opinion piece. We have a hand in it all – to build or destroy!
